It is a sad thing that Jacob Zuma has been elected the new president of South Africa.
Not only have there been severel corruption charges against him but on 6 December 2005 he was charged with rape in the Johannesburg High Court. During the trial, Zuma admitted to having unprotected sex with his accuser but claimed that he took a shower afterwards to cut the risk of contracting HIV. He also said that the accuser was asking for it since she was wearing a short skirt.
"The spread of AIDS is an alarming problem in South Africa with up to 31% of pregnant women found to be HIV infected in 2005 and the infection rate among adults estimated at 20%."
By electing Zuma, I doubt there will be done anything to improve the terrible shape South Africa is in. Rather contrary.
